Nokia announced a leadership overhaul on Wednesday, creating new units focused on artificial intelligence and corporate development in the latest move by new Chief Executive Justin Hotard to reshape the Finnish telecom equipment maker.
The company said it is forming a Technology and AI Organization to be led by incoming Chief Technology and AI Officer Pallavi Mahajan, who joins from Intel.
A new Corporate Development Organization will be headed by Konstanty Owczarek, a former Hewlett Packard Enterprise executive.
The changes, effective Oct. 1, will see Chief Strategy and Technology Officer Nishant Batra step down at the end of September, according to the company.
"To succeed in the AI supercycle, we need to focus on where we can drive differentiation through our core technologies, strengthen our capabilities in security and AI, and maximize the value of partnerships in our ecosystem," Hotard said in a statement.
Hotard, who also previously led Intel's data center and AI group, took the helm at Nokia in April and has been steadily building his new leadership team.
The new Technology and AI Organization will integrate the company's famed research arm, Nokia Bell Labs, with its technology, AI, and security teams.
