Danish vaccine maker Bavarian Nordic will supply an undisclosed European country with its smallpox and mpox vaccine under a new contract valued at over 200 million Danish Krone, the company announced Wednesday.

The deal is the latest in a series of orders from governments aiming to strengthen their public health preparedness against biological threats, following a global mpox outbreak in 2022 that spurred demand.

"As Europe continues to strengthen its resilience in the face of evolving geopolitical threats, we are proud to support efforts to increase public health security by supplying our MVA-BN® smallpox/mpox vaccine, which remains a vital tool for managing mpox outbreaks as well as for safeguarding populations against future smallpox threats," said Paul Chaplin, President and CEO of Bavarian Nordic.

The company said this new order, combined with other recent contracts with non-European countries, brings the total value of its 2025 public preparedness business to over 3 billion Danish Krone.

This places the division within its targeted guidance for the year, according to the company.

Bavarian Nordic confirmed its overall revenue and earnings guidance for 2025 remains unchanged.
