Investor AB completes $2.2 billion U.S. med-tech acquisition

Swedish investment firm Investor AB said on Thursday its subsidiary, Advanced Instruments, has completed the acquisition of U.S. medical technology company Nova Biomedical after receiving regulatory approval.

The deal has an enterprise value of $2.2 billion, according to the company.

Investor's Patricia Industries unit contributed $1.6 billion in financing, with the remainder financed through external debt.

The combined company will operate under the name Nova Biomedical and will be led by Advanced Instruments' Chief Executive, Byron Selman.

Both Massachusetts-based companies are global providers of analytical instruments and consumables for the biopharmaceutical and clinical markets.

The acquisition will be reflected in Investor's financial reporting from its interim management statement for the third quarter of 2025 onwards, the company said.
