Skanska secures $240M contract with Virginia Tech for new engineering facility

Skanska has signed a supplemental contract worth $240 million, approximately 2.5 billion Swedish Kronor, with Virginia Tech to construct a new College of Engineering building, the company announced.

This contract value will be included in Skanska's U.S. order bookings for the second quarter of 2025.

The project includes the construction of the five-story, approximately 28,500 square meter Mitchell Hall, which will house five engineering departments and one of the largest university-owned wind tunnels in the U.S.

According to Skanska, the new building will also feature high-performing classrooms, instructional laboratories, research laboratories, and collaboration spaces.

Construction began in spring 2024 with the demolition of Randolph Hall, and the project is targeted for completion in the fall of 2028.
