Demant makes record €700 million bet on German hearing care
Danish hearing-aid maker Demant A/S said Wednesday it has agreed to acquire German retailer KIND Group for 700 million Euros in its largest-ever deal, significantly expanding its footprint in one of the world's biggest hearing care markets.
The acquisition will add around 650 hearing care clinics, mostly in Germany, bringing Demant's global retail network to more than 4,500 clinics, the company said.
The move continues Demant's strategy of growing through acquisitions of retail networks, which has included major purchases in France and China over the past decade.
“The combination of KIND’s strong brand and proven track record with Demant’s state-of-the-art technology, global scale and experience in providing hearing care is a unique strategic fit,” said Søren Nielsen, President and CEO of Demant.
Demant expects the deal to be accretive to earnings per share in the first year and for KIND to contribute around 300 million Euros in revenue in 2026, according to the announcement.
The company will finance the purchase entirely through debt and has suspended its share buy-back program as a result.
The transaction is expected to close in the second half of 2025, pending regulatory approvals.
