Swedish investment firm EQT AB has nominated Jean Eric Salata to succeed founder Conni Jonsson as its next chairperson, marking a significant leadership transition for one of the world's largest private-equity firms.
The change is planned for the company's annual meeting in May 2026, subject to shareholder approval, the company said Thursday.
Mr. Salata is the chair of EQT Asia and founder of Baring Private Equity Asia, which merged with EQT in 2022.
He will succeed Mr. Jonsson, who founded EQT in 1994 and will become Honorary Chair.
"I know EQT is in the best hands possible, so I have decided that now is the right time to step down," Mr. Jonsson said in a statement.
The move follows the appointment of Per Franzén as chief executive earlier this year, continuing a generational shift at the firm.
The announcement came as EQT reported its third-quarter results, with total assets under management reaching 267 billion euros.
During the quarter, EQT funds invested 5 billion euros and completed gross exits of 2 billion euros, according to the company.
Mr. Salata will continue in his role as Chair of EQT Asia in addition to the board chairperson position.
