Swedish miner Boliden AB has been granted a mining concession for its large Laver copper deposit in northern Sweden, a key step in a project aimed at bolstering Europe's supply of the industrial metal.

Swedish miner Boliden warned Monday that proposed tax hikes in Finland could add up to 30 million euros in annual costs to its Kevitsa mine and impact Europe's supply of critical raw materials.

Swedish miner Boliden AB reported a sharp drop in second-quarter operating profit, weighed down by costs from a major acquisition and challenging market conditions.

Boliden announced it has secured long-term financing for its acquisition of the Somincor copper and zinc mine in Portugal and the Zinkgruvan zinc mine in Sweden.
