Sweco AB has agreed to acquire Fimpec Group, a Finnish consulting and project management firm focused on the green energy transition, in a move that will add about 400 experts to its Finnish operations.
The deal, which is subject to approval by Finland's competition authority, continues a broader acquisition push by the Swedish engineering consultancy to expand its European footprint.
Fimpec Group, which specializes in renewable energy, hydrogen, and batteries, had a turnover of nearly 51 million euros in 2024, the company said.
"This important addition will strengthen Sweco’s position as an advisor in the ongoing energy and industry transitions," said Thomas Hietto, Business Area President for Sweco in Finland.
Hietto added that the combined companies will support clients in high-growth sectors including the battery value chain and industrial decarbonization.
The acquisition follows Sweco's recent takeover of Swedish rival Projektengagemang and other purchases in the Netherlands and Luxembourg.
In its latest financial report, Sweco noted that its Finnish business had faced headwinds in a challenging market.
The company said the Fimpec acquisition aligns with its strategy to grow by adding key skills to its existing team of 22,000 experts.
